Some criticized the sermons of George Whitefield for not being very "impressive". Arnold Dallimore, Whitefield's biographer, responds to these accusations:
"Moreover, whatever their lack of 'enticing words of man's wisdom,' Whitefield's sermons abound with the Gospel. In page after page they present the Lord Jesus Christ in the glory of His redemptive grace; they ever ring with the 'good tidings of great joy' and earnestly entreat the sinner to come to Christ."
